Back-to-School Study Bootcamp for Spring 2014: Day 9

Day 9

Feeling less sick today, but still a little tired.  I focused on review of worked problems.  Some new goals are taking shape.  I have found Organic Chemistry as a Second Language to be a helpful review, so I will concentrate on getting through the book in the remaining days.  As the first day of school approaches, other concerns are competing more heavily for my time as there are some tasks I would like complete before school starts.  I have some work projects to finish, and I have some interviews for this site to prepare.  I am also working on recruiting more writers and conducting more interviews.  Still, I plan to make my original numbers of 90 minutes per subject at least one day before this bootcamp is over.

Numbers for the day:

Before 6 p.m.
Organic Chemistry – 60 minutes; reviewed exercise from first two chapters of Organic Chemistry as a Second Language.

After 6 p.m.
Differential Equations – 50 minutes; reviewed exercises on separable differential equations.
Physics – 50 minutes; review of notes and previously worked problems.
Workout – 60 minutes; walk and light exercises.

Sonjiala Jackson-Hotchkiss

Sonjiala (SON-ja-la) is currently pursuing an MS degree in chemistry at UC San Diego. As a member of the Bridges to Baccalaureate Program at San Diego Mesa College, her research in organic chemistry includes the synthesis of fatty acid esters of vitamin C that will be tested for their ability to inhibit glycolytic enzymes. In an additional research project she uses analytical chemistry techniques to determine the composition of World War II era California pottery.
